Cleaning Multi-sheet AccPack GL's
Here
are the full steps to perform when you run into a multi-sheet AccPack GL
cleaner:
- Copy the contents of each sheet into a new excel document, reason for this is because AccPack extracts the GL into a older version format of excel that causes issues with other steps in this process.
- Copy the headings from the first sheet (from row 42 upwards) and paste
that at the beginning of each of the other sheets.
- In each of the sheets after sheet 1 copy the row with the last account number and description from the previous sheet and paste this into the next sheet in the heading. The account should be in row 42. In other words:
- go to sheet 1 then scroll to the very last account
- copy the full row with that account's number and description in it
- paste that into row 42 on sheet 2.
- then repeat
this process for all of the sheets until the end
- Run the GL cleaners on each sheet. (Please note this might take some time, depending on how large your data set is and your PC's processing power)
- Combine the Cleaned table of each sheet into one sheet.
(You can use that combine function on The Audit Toolbar to perform this, here is a link to the
combine sheet guide)
- Select all the data in the Combined Table and insert a pivot table. (If you do not know how to pull a pivot table, here is a link to a guide on pulling a pivot table).
- To get the same results as with the GL cleaners, drag the following Pivot Table Fields into these areas
- Month in the Columns Area
- Account in the Rows Area
- Amount in the Values Area
